Come fly with me...

Well, not actually me, but Bry.  This is parts of a video from this past fishing season in Bristol Bay.  One of his friends mounted a GoPro to the plane while they did a little sight seeing.  The top attraction is definitely the white beluga whales in the water at the beginning of the video.  Bry said it was incredible -- that they just went on for miles.  So cool.

I hope you enjoy getting a bird's eye view of that corner of the world as much as I do....

Alaska State Fair, Round 1

Round 1 because we're hoping to take Omi & Opa when they get here too.

Much needed pit stop after the fair.  Tell got to roam, stretch his legs, and throw some rocks :)

Ramblings & Taylor Swift Wisdom.

That Taylor.  She's a wise old sage right?

Headed up to go raspberry picking I found myself actually listening to some of the lyrics of her song and words hit me at an impressionable time.  I was just feeling so in love with my children.  So thankful for them.  (Not that we didn't have our impatient moments today, oh we most certainly did.)  But in one of her songs she talks about "When everybody believed in you...."  And I thought, isn't that the truth?  When they're young we all believe in the possibility that they can do anything.

Seriously, I literally -- read as Chris Traeger from Parks and Recreation please :) -- believe that there is the possibility for them to do whatever their hearts desire in their future.  And I just set this little prayer in my own heart that I hope I can remember -- may I always, always feel that way for them.  May I not get bogged down by the world when it really matters to them.  I definitely received this kind of love from my own parents and hope I can pass it on to these little turkeys:

My warm fuzzies may have come from a conversation I had with Ever today at lunch about the northern lights.  (Which were out last night -- never ceases to be anything less than awesome.)

Ever: "Who makes them?"
"God does."
"Electricity, I think." (??!!)
"Where does God live?"
"In heaven I suppose.  I've never actually seen Him, just the things He does."
"Where is Heaven?"  (We are clearly in the "Why's", no?)
"Some people say it's above the clouds. I'm not really sure."

Ever: "I think Heaven is in our hearts too."

My heart literally melts.

"I think you are right my dear."  xo

A new season.

The first hunters of the year have arrived and we are officially in a new season.  Lots of baking, cooking, and waiting.
I'm SO excited to be hearing about all that is going on around us -- lots of action in my family and Bry's extended family.  It's a busy time of life.  We can't wait for next month to see Omi & Opa and to spend time with Stacey, Ollie, & Jose before they head out on their own grand adventure.  I'm crossing my fingers that the frost will stay away and I can keep my garden alive to show them :)

Thanks for my cooking get-up Uncle Josh, Aunt Jenny, & Cousin Sawyer :)

Say what!?!?

I'm a spelling bee-er from way back.  I remember having to spell "tallow" to win my 5th grade spelling bee.  (Which is comical because this is how Ever pronouces the word "towel").  Spelling may be part of my hang up in using terms such as "BTW" and "TTYL".  I'm so out of the loop I can't even think of any more of those ....

Anyway, imagine my immense surprise today when I find that curiosity is spelled just like that --

What?  I couldn't believe my e-mail spell checker, I had to google it.  Where did the "u" from "curious" go??  I am perplexed.  And newly educated now.

I guess you learn something every day :)

Bmen & Johnny's New Interest - Update.

You may remember this post from early May.  Well, Bry and his brother are not ones to simply pipe dream.  If they wish it, it shall be.  And Johnny has completed his jet boat.  Bry took the kids and I for rides in it a few nights ago and I have to hand it to them, it is super fun and most definitely impressive.   Bry can't wait to build one for himself.

Welcome baby girl!

"Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart."
Congratulations and good work to my brother Josh and his beautiful wife Jenny for bringing this little bundle of beauty into the world.
Welcome to the family Sawyer Rae!

Tell's Turn.

Little bubba got a new nickname this weekend, "hotcakes", cause he had a mean fever rolling.  Luckily this morning it finally broke and he woke up covered in sweat.  Poor little guy did some serious snuggling in the meantime which made for some sweet pictures.

(Really liking my new camera....)

Found this sweetie when searching for the first two pictures.  Stacey took it and I think he is 6 days old.  Can you stand it?? :)
On the docket today is hopefully some rhubarb jam-making, maybe some shaving cream painting in the tub, some exercise, and unfortunately a little laundry.  Wishing a lovely Sunday for you all...xo

Sweet in-between time.

I don't have only one favorite time of year, but this sweet time in between fishing and hunting is definitely near the top.
Look at how happy my little bright eyes is in that second picture?

Last photo taken by Jenny on our recent outing to Chalet Lake.

Sweet relaxing night with beautiful ladies .... Thank you - because this Mama needed a lil' getaway :)  Feel so lucky to have so many incredible women in my life.  And chances are, if you're reading this, I consider you one of them. xo

2nd Annual Piatt Riot ...

Definitely a weekend to remind me that I'd love to see all these people way more often.

And below ... fiddling with my camera.  I call this "Beauty Amidst Chaos" :)

New Art.

Wild And Precious Life (11x14)
by Katie Daisy

So I've just about maxed myself (and our house) out on word art, but what is one supposed to do when one of your favorite Etsy artists does one of your all time favorite quotes??
Make exceptions, of course.
Hope it gives you inspiration to live as it does me...
Now I just need to find some non-word, non-frilly art to balance it out.
