It's the time of year ....

I get a bit homesick in summertime.  This year we'll have to settle for a new flag hanging on the front porch and possibly some red, white, and blue sangria....
I guess I better come up with a little something for the
kids too, eh??

Firsts.

:: Ever came running up and said, "Mama, come look, I wrote my name all by myself -- E-V-E-R!"  I am so proud.

:: I got to sleep in my bed (with Ever) from the time I went to bed to the time Ever woke me up.  This is the first time I've got to sleep "through the night" :) in about 14 months.  Tell is loving his crib, and I'm loving that.

Alaska Summers.

::bug bites & beautiful lobelia::

 ::dirty garden feet::
Just dug my last post hole for the night at 10:55pm.
And it's still light.  Which reminds me of Ever's latest excuse for not wanting to go to bed -- she wants a dark sky with stars to go to sleep. :)

Travellers.

Well, we're back from a few days away.  All four ducks and the dog survived our being gone.  Driving into Stacey's the other day Ever asked who writes on the sides of the hills (people up here spell things with rocks in the hills on the sides of the highway).  I told her "travellers" do that.  Driving home today, she asked me (of course),
"Why do travellers write on the hills?"
"I don't know."
"Where do travellers live?"
I said that travellers are anyone away from home and sometimes we get to be travellers too.

Anyway, it was fun being a traveller this last week. We had a lot of fun and took a few fun pictures along the way.  I wish I was the type to stop along the road and take pictures.  Used to be.  May do it again someday.  But the scenery was breathtaking.  Beautiful gray rivers speckled with bright purple fireweed.  Brilliant skies with crisp beautiful mountains.  A lovely, lovely drive.
We went in for Ever to be a flower girl in a wedding and to spend a few days with Stacey and Oliver.  The kids kept us worn out, but laughing. Can't wait until next time we get to be travellers again ....
Oh, and Ever "read" her first thing -- she said, "Those rocks say 'I love you'."
Does I heart U count as reading a word?  Of course it does. :)
Hang in there Tell.  Love you Papa.

Ever in her flower girl outfit.  My hands were full and I was too flustered during the actual wedding to get a picture.  She and Hayden did wonderful.

Tell loves going to Aunt Stacey's.  He eats like a king there :)

Kiddos lined up to explore Talkeetna.

After Whitney's wedding.

Learning how to toss the ol' horse shoes in downtown Talkeetna.

Sweet chubby baby hands. xo

Crazy kids ready to roll.

Tell practicing the move he learned from Ollie this week.

Time flies, doesn't it??

Happy Father's Day, Dad.  I love you.

Scootin' along.

Life has a way of doing that.  Just scootin' along.  And before you know it the week's over.  The month's over.  The year's over.  I don't think I'll ever get used to it.  Sometimes I think my heart wasn't cut out for this way of things.  I must be a turtle inside -- let's slow things down a bit.

Finding all sorts of things to do around here these days.  And every time I pull up the internet I find even more things to want to do.  And then I remember all the things that I really need to do, and somehow those slip to the bottom of the pile... hmm.

Right now I'm working on a garden fence so all my planting isn't for the rabbits, as a lot of it was last year.  It's good to feel physical tiredness again.  Good to feel those little muscles squeaking that they still exist under there :)

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Cor 12:9

Thank the heavens for coffee, sleeping babes, and the Lord's grace and strength.

Happy Anniversary.

7 years. Sometimes it sounds and feels like a long time, other times it feels like a marriage still in its infancy.

I remember when I first started spending time around Bry's family and I thought it was so funny that his parents had an anniversary right during spring bear season, and therefore were rarely together to celebrate it...

Now here we are with June 4th.  It's definitely been a couple years since we've been able to spend it together.  There's always some sort of hustle bustle getting ready for the fishing season and this year is no different.  It's funny wondering how the timing ever worked out in the first place, right?  Life changes right under our noses.  Life grows.

This year I'll be spending our anniversary with our two greatest joys.  A lucky girl I am today, and a lucky girl I've been these last 7 years.  And one of these years we're going to make up for all these missed anniversaries together and run back to Costa Rica to show the kids just where they became a possibility* ;)

Airplane Fever.

Well, after a long winter of many, many nights burning the midnight oil, Bry has finished his airplane!  For now, I should probably add.  I would imagine these, like most things, are never quite completely finished.

But, last night Tell (in his crib) and I (on the deck) got the long-awaited buzz from the most beautiful, shiny Super Cub I have ever seen (of course my camera battery was dead).  Today, the kids and I got to go up in it with Papa and it was a wonderful ride.  Diesel had to stay home, but hopefully next time we will be flying somewhere fun and he will get to come along too.  I'm very thankful Johana was on it with her camera and took some pictures, because it is most definitely an important milestone for us and, most especially, for Bry.  He has waited a long time and worked very hard to reach this goal.

A congratulatory fist pump :)
Family pre-flight.
Ever told Papa today he was her best friend.  A real heart-melter, that one.  Although maybe she's just trying to butter him up so she can have the airplane....
Tell also got to break in a new airplane today -- a birthday swing from his Mama and Papa.  He loves it!
