A Proper Garden

I just finished a book of this name written by Elisabeth Sheldon.  I had to laugh at myself when, on the last two pages, she writes about how gardening is a hobby of the middle-aged.  Ha!  Now I'm feeling even older than I already felt.  But she goes on to really peg me with this inset:

"...When I wash and wipe my Chinese cups carefully for a long time, " she said, "I can feel myself getting older." She stuck with the job dutifully until it was finished, then, crossing swiftly over the doorrsill, went out into the garden.  Suddenly her nervous depression and bitterness fell away from her. The presence of any kind of vegetation acted on her like an antidote..."

This part was written by a different woman, a homemaker, who wasn't really "passionate" about her role inside the home, but through gardening felt renewed and reawakened.  I get that.  I hope to be lucky enough to share some garden pictures with you soon. xo

May Is Coming.

And I signed up for a triathlon in May.
Haven't ran.  Haven't biked.  I don't think I even need to say that I haven't swam.
Fitting that my kitchen calendar next month will be this image with an even more fitting word on it.  I think I will need this.  Wish me luck....

P.S. I still have a few more vacation photos to post. Soon.  xo

Ever just informed me that pink teddy IS born now.

I'm loving how every morning is like a wonderful reunion between two long-lost friends.  Ever has the most excited "Hi Tell!"  and he flashes her his biggest smile and races towards her.  Every morning.  It's the sweetest thing.

I'm loving this crazy-haired kid and his crazy-haired sis.  Also loving Tylenol for the wicked fever he has going on.  And cartoons.
Ever is loving .... doing everything.  Except for anything that resembles quiet time or a nap.  I found her setting up this sweet little scenario on the window sill.  She said pink teddy is being "borned".   She also got to shoot the BB gun for the first time this week -- exciting times. She is loving that her giant sand pit is back from the winter snow.

Tell is loving music right now.  Loves the guitar, loves to dance. Any little jingle will do.  Papa is loving finally getting to paint some black on his beautiful airplane.  It's pretty time consuming, but he is still able to find little special moments with the kids.  Definitely exciting times for him too.

Forsythia.  On my outside-want list.  Wish I had one on both sides of the front steps just getting ready to bloom.  If only the nurseries weren't 3.5 hours away ...... sigh.

I had thought I could narrow my vacation pictures down to my 10 favorites... I still may try to narrow it down, but in the meantime I am going to try to post 10 favorites each day for maybe 5 days or so.... We will see how it goes. Unfortunately I haven't gotten around to editing, brightening, etc. and probably won't. I think the pictures can hold their own though.

Right now, at home, spring is coming on strong. On Tuesday we had out Ever's skis to practice in the slush and warmer air. Yesterday we had out a tricycle to practice on the newly uncovered driveway and we started some seeds for the garden. (yay!) I can honestly say we are all excited about spring and it feels good to be in sync with mother nature's timing. I have been obsessively checking the buds on my trees and shrubs. I even attempted a jog this morning in the beautiful crisp morning air, but the dog, the stroller, and gravity got the best of me real quick... another day.
